Mitchell Stein has been voted Employee of the Month for January 2019!
Mitchell is the Early Intervention Services (EIS) Coordinator for Caring Communities. He helps our EIS department perform HIV and STD tests in our office locations as well as in the greater community.
Prior to joining the Caring Communities team, Mitchell worked in a variety of positions throughout the area. The one that left the biggest impression was Mitchell’s time as a fire fighter/EMT, where he found a passion for helping others. His EMT experience, combined with his degree in Human Services, led Mitchell to look for work helping his community.
Mitchell, who was already familiar with Caring Communities and the work we do, began as an intern before moving to a permanent position with our agency. He has since proven to be a valuable addition to the Early Intervention Services. He also helps with the Condom Distribution Program, which allows us to provide free condoms to local businesses and partners in the area to distribute to their clients.
Mitchell is one of our workers who is frequently on-the-go, helping not only in our main office in Wilkes-Barre, but also throughout our service area, providing testing and info sessions at colleges, bars, correctional facilities and other partners in the community. One of Mitchell’s favorite parts of his job is meeting different types of people who some to out offices for a test or prevention information and share their stories with him. What a great way to get to know the community!
When not on duty with Caring Communities, Mitchell enjoys relaxing and spending time with his family and friends, which usually involves board games and lots of laughter.
Congratulations again, Mitchell!
