Organizational Statement on Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Updated 12/07/2020

Caring Communities remains committed to our mission to provide necessary health services to the communities we serve. However, we also recognize that these are unprecedented times and that the safety of our staff and our communities must come first. Since March, Caring Communities has been limiting office access and services to best protect both our staff and members of the community. Since then, Governor Wolf has lifted his “Stay At Home” orders for many of the counties in our service area. We are working on easing the restrictions to our office access and services in a safe, controlled manner. Updates will be posted to our website and social media as they happen.

As of Monday, December 7, 2020, here are the updates to our services:

Our clinics are open for in-person STD and HCV screenings and testing, HIV testing and treatment, and PrEP services.

Individuals who wish to obtain services from our clinics must schedule an appointment by dialing 570-931-1550 or using our online appointment scheduler.

The Hazleton Clinic is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:45am until 3:15pm.

The Bloomsburg Clinic is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:45am – 3:15pm.

The Wilkes-Barre Clinic is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:45am until 3:15pm.

Additional testing days in Wilkes-Barre are on Fridays from 9:30am until 3:00pm. (Friday services are for HIV, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, and Hepatitis C testing only. Full clinic services not available.)

Patients who wish to enter the clinic will be instructed to wear masks and follow strict social distancing rules. Further, unless absolutely necessary, no individuals will be permitted to accompany the patient during the appointment in an effort to limit the number of individuals in the clinic.

Our HIV Medical Case Management department is providing services to our clients from our offices. We can also provide services via phone, e-mail, text, and telemedicine equipment for those in need.

For the protection of our clients, we ask that clients DO NOT come to our offices and instead practice social distancing and self-isolation techniques to protect themselves from potential exposure to COVID-19. We will be unable to provide agency-based medical transportation at this time and our case managers will not be doing any face-to-face visits with clients. We will instead utilize non-face-to-face methods to ensure that clients stay connected to services. Clients can continue to call, text, or e-mail their case managers as usual, and aside from transportation, we hope to continue providing normal client services. We can also still accept new clients who are living with HIV and in need of case management services at this time. Anyone with questions regarding case management services should call the Director of Case Management services at 570-899-9626.

Any additional changes to our services will be posted on our website and social media accounts. We encourage the public to check our website daily for updates, as the COVID-19 outbreak is a rapidly changing and fluid situation. When we are able to restore regular services, that announcement will also be posted to our website and social media.
