Our Employee of the Month for November 2018 is Jacob Kelley!
Jacob is our Community and Client Liaison and has been with Caring Communities since March of 2017.
Jacob graduated from Bloomsburg University in December 2016. There, he presented his work at conferences and hosted workshops that focused on LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Asexual) and gender expression. He is continuing with his education through Weidner University, where he is working toward a master’s degree in Human Sexuality. Jacob hopes to use his education in combination with his experiences at Caring Communities to become a sex educator.
After school, Jacob began looking for opportunities to work with the LGBTQA community and gain insights of how best to serve and empower the members of that community. He was able to find this when he began working with Caring Communities. Jacob finds great pleasure in knowing he can assist others and provide them with the support they need to better themselves.
His coworkers praise the positive energy he brings with him each day as well as his creativity and flexibility to handle unexpected situations. Jacob supports the company in many ways by helping the case management and Early Intervention Services departments reach their goals and assist with other employees’ workloads. Jacob also shows his support of Caring Communities’ mission at work and in his personal life.
On weekends, Jacob expands on his studies of gender expression in a more hands-on fashion. He can frequently be found performing as his drag persona, Trixy Valentine. Recently, Jacob was joined by his twin brother, Josh (Harpy Daniels), as the pair performed a “Sister Sister” act in Wilkes-Barre, complete with a 1920s, Chicago-inspired drag duet. Trixy also graced that stage at Pride on the Mountain in Scranton this past summer, donating the proceeds of the performance to Caring Communities’ client services.
Congratulations again to Jacob Kelley! Caring Communities is thrilled to have you on our team!
