Employee of the Month for June 2019: Meghen Waite

Congratulations to Meghen Waite, our first Employee of the Month to win twice!

Meghen began with Caring Communities in December of 2018. She has proven to be a huge asset to our Early Intervention Services (EIS) department in her Community Health Worker position. Meghen has helped to oversee our testing needs both in office and at off-site venues around the region.

In May 2018, Meghen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Slippery Rock University. While there, she was a member of the board for the student chapter of the Pennsylvania Public Health Association. She also completed a three-month long internship with the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, working with their Health Promotion Disease Prevention Office. In this internship she provided health education and helped create prevention programs for veterans, including a 4-week long program surrounding chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Meghen’s eagerness to help others that sparked her interest in Public Health, as well as to her current position with Caring Communities. She finds that her favorite part of the position is knowing that she is making an impact in the overall health of our local community. She also credits the vast variety of people she meets each day for shaping her learning experiences.

Those who voted for Meghen complimented her ambition and hard work, especially in regards to her seemingly effortless handling of venues and in-office testing while working with a briefly limited EIS staff. Others noted her always happy mood and her ability to help other quickly and patiently.

Congratulations again to Meghen!
